The half guard is a popular transition position in ground fighting in the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu techniques. In early days, the half guard was referred to as the half mount in general. Also it was considered as a bad position. This position is well described and explained, when only one of the opponent's legs is between your legs (the guard). This position is mostly used as a transitional movement, leading into various sweeps. Morevoer this half guard position can also be used to control the opponent's leg.
The half guard is considered as a relatively advanced position in grappling. With this position, beginners find it extremely difficult to move or transit to other positions. This mixed martial art technique, is most effectively used as a method for getting back to the full closed guard position. The leg lock from the half guard is a transition position of the Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, in this the leg-lock is applied when the opponent in half guard position. Here the left foot is taken over the opponent's right leg and placed on the back of their knee. In the following move the right foot is taken over the opponents right leg and placed on their ankle. It is suggested that you should use your left foot to push the opponent's leg up, so as to get their ankle behind your right knee. Following this position you should pull the right foot in and apply the lock position. It's not as easy as it seems.
